- 2FA (two-factor authentication)
- A second login step, such as a code from an app. Keeping 2FA on your own device is the simplest way to stay in control of your account.
- Account access
- How an agency works inside your account. The safe version keeps the login email, password and two-factor authentication under your control, so access can be withdrawn at any time.
- Chatter
- A person who answers fan messages on a creator’s behalf, usually employed or contracted by an agency and often working in shifts. Messaging is where most OnlyFans revenue is made; see our guide to DM management.
- Commission (agency split)
- The percentage of earnings an agency keeps. Published rates among the agencies we track run 20–80%; most agencies do not publish one. See commission rates.
- Content licence clause
- The part of a contract that says what the agency may do with your content. Watch for perpetual or transferable licences that survive after you leave.
- DMCA takedown
- A formal notice under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act asking a website or host to remove content that infringes your copyright, such as leaked paid content.
- Free trial link
- A link that gives new fans free access to an account for a limited time.
- Gross vs net earnings
- Gross is what fans paid; net is what is left after the 20% platform fee. The difference matters for agency deals: 50% of gross equals 62.5% of net.
- Leak protection
- Monitoring for copies of a creator’s paid content on other sites and filing takedowns. 51 of the 134 agencies we list offer it; see the leak protection list.
- Mass message
- A message sent to many subscribers at once, often with PPV content attached.
- Minimum term (lock-in)
- The period you must stay before you can end the contract. Long minimum terms are one of the most common contract red flags.
- Notice period
- How far in advance you must give notice to leave. See how to leave an agency.
- OFM
- Short for “OnlyFans management”. Used both for the industry and for individual agencies.
- OnlyFans management agency
- A company that runs the business side of a creator’s OnlyFans account — usually fan messaging, marketing, pricing and content planning — in exchange for a share of earnings. We rank 134 of them.
- Payout
- The transfer of earnings from OnlyFans to the creator’s bank account. In a safe setup it goes to an account in the creator’s own name, not the agency’s. See payouts and taxes.
- Pending balance
- Earnings OnlyFans holds for a period before they can be withdrawn.
- Platform fee
- The share OnlyFans keeps from creator earnings: 20%. The creator receives the other 80%.
- Post-term commission
- Commission an agency keeps taking after the contract ends, often on subscribers gained during the term.
- PPV (pay-per-view)
- Paid content a fan unlocks for a set price, sent in a message or post, on top of the subscription.
- Reddit marketing
- Promoting an account through Reddit posts in relevant communities, one of the main free traffic sources for creators. See Reddit promotion.
- SFS (shoutout for shoutout)
- Two creators promoting each other’s accounts to swap audiences.
- Subscription price
- What a fan pays each month to follow an account. Some creators run free accounts and earn from PPV and tips instead. See our pricing guide.
- Tips
- One-off payments a fan sends on top of the subscription or PPV.
- Tracking link
- An OnlyFans link that records which platform or campaign a subscriber came from, used to measure marketing.
- Verification check
- Our six-point check on every listing: live website, named company, contact address or imprint, active social profiles, independent reviews and publicly stated terms. How it works.
- Whale
- A fan who spends far more than the average subscriber. Chatters often prioritise them.
